Description
Existing books on structural stability tend to be overly scholarly and complicated making them poor textbooks and needlessly difficult design guides.  This book will be the first written primarily as a textbook to provide a clear understanding of theoretical stability behavior.  This base is then used to provide an understanding of the development of the specification based equations used in stability design of steel structures.  The book will give students and professionals a basic understanding of the design specifications developed by organizations such as AISC and implemented in building codes by IBC, and guide them in applying these specifications in real world designs.

Stability is a concept common to civil, mechanical, and aeronautical engineering, but design approaches differ between all three areas.  This book will present design guidelines for civil applications, with less attention paid to material properties of steel and aluminum.
