Description

The first edition was named one of the top five statistics books by Amstat News in September 2003. Modern Regression Methods, 2nd Edition is a synthesis of the state-of-the-art regression methodology and is written as an upper-undergraduate, graduate, and professional-level book for students, researchers, and practitioners. The book has more of a data analysis orientation and the treatment of regression diagnostics is more comprehensive than in other regression books. Each chapter contains a brief section for those with access to SAS®, Minitab®, SPSS®, BMDP, and Systat; however, the use of a particular package is not emphasized in the text. Enhancements to the second edition include a unification and expansion of subject areas addressed in the first edition, as well as an increased emphasis on applications. The chapter on logistic regression has been completely updated and now includes improved methods on parameter estimation. This revised chapter is also heavy on software use, including LogXact from Cytel Software Corporation. The number of exercises in each chapters has also been increased from 10-15 per chapter to 25-30.
