Description
Most books treat the subject of intermediate or advanced dynamics from an "analytical" point of view; that is, they focus on the techniques for analyzing the problems presented.  This book will present the basic theory by showing how it is used in real-world situations. It will not use software as a black box solution, nor drill the students in problem solving.  It will present advanced concepts but in a new way - for example, detailed derivations of Lagrange’s equations will be left to references or advanced courses but their utility as an alternative formulation procedure for certain types of systems will be illustrated.  Another example is the formulation of Newton’s laws in a rotating reference frame attached to a rigid body.  This form of Newton’s laws is widely used in vehicle dynamics but practically never presented in introductory dynamics texts.
