Description
Leading Flash experts, Reinhardt and Dowd, have revised this best-selling and well-reviewed Flash title to cover the very latest release of Adobe Flash. It will continue to fill the need for a user-friendly, yet in-depth book that appeals to both the web novice and the accomplished web worker, and will function as their guide to the workings and capabilities of this powerful program. The accompanying CD will include add-ons, plug-ins, shareware, templates, and examples. This next edition will cover all that is new in Flash, including –
  • The Flash Professional 9 ActionScript 3.0 Preview allows you to compile .fla files that contain or import scripts written in the new ActionScript 3.0 language.
  • Document Class—Flash Professional 9 ActionScript 3.0 Preview introduces the new concept of a document class, which is a class definition that is associated with the main timeline.
  • Symbol-Class Linkage—Linkage Identifiers are no longer needed in ActionScript 3.0. Instead, you can specify a class name for a library symbol which can then be directly instantiated dynamically to create instances of that symbol.
  • Errors and Warnings—There are two additional options for ActionScript 3.0 errors and warnings, which can be toggled in the ActionScript 3.0 Preferences.
  • Class Path—You can now have other definitions besides classes in external files, such as functions or namespaces.
  • Language and Player API Changes—This release includes many changes to the ActionScript syntax and the classes and functions provided natively by the player, which will require reference to the supplied documentation and ActionScript Language Reference.
