Circuit Works is a simulator based on a set library of 100 circuits, with adjustable parameters. Circuit Works is a tool for teaching and learning the principles and relationships that underlie basic first- and second-order circuits having resistors, capacitors, inductors, op-amps, dependents and independent sources, and transformers.
It has the unique feature of allowing two sets of component values to be assigned to the circuit, and then displaying results in a color-differentiated format that lets students see the time-domain, s-domain, and frequency-domain effect of changing a circuit parameter, signal parameter, or initial condition.
The primary audience is sophomores taking the first circuits course with the intent of developing intuition and helping to understand the basic concepts of the course. Circuit Works includes a User's Guide and 20 Virtual Lab Exercises to assist with directed and/or self-study.
A free demo of Circuit Works is available on the Instructor and Student Companion Sites. The full release of Circuit Works may also be purchased for download on the Student Companion Site.
Purchasers of Basic Engineering Circuit Analysis, 7e by J. David Irwin receive free access to Circuit Works with their text. Icons referring to Circuit Works can be found in the margin next to problems related to Circuit Works, and additional material related to these problems is included in the Online Help File.
