Description
"Pavement" is the composite layers of engineered materials used to build up and coat the surface of any road or highway. The term connotes materials that are both strong and durable-as well as economical. Pavement engineering usually com-promises the two-fold phases of "design" (the geometrical and quantitative analysis and design of the road surface) and "materials" (the selection and understanding of the major types of pavement materials available for road surfacing, including con-crete and asphalt-based materials.
