Modern structural dynamics requires the use of sophisticated models if structural engineers are to accurately assess the reliability of civil structures-buildings, bridges, etc. This text presents these models and methods to the student in a clear and systematic manner. The text is self-contained and assumes no prior knowledge in vibration theory or structural dynamics. The text is suitable for a senior level course most often entitled "Structural Dynamics" found in Civil Engineering departments. It is also appropriate for such a course offered at the graduate level. Since it does not cover machine vibrations, it will be less appealing to Mechanical Engineering students.
