Description

The purpose of this text is to help develop a fundamental understanding of the principles of structural analysis in the modern engineering office. Attention is given to the loads acting on the structures as well as the response of the structure to those loads. Part I is devoted almost entirely to statically determinate structures, while Parts II and III address statically indeterminate structures, so students will develop a thorough understanding of both.

The availability of computational software has completely changed the practical application of structural analysis. Instead of applying classical methods, engineers generally use computer programs prepared with matrix methods. For this reason, a CD, included with every copy of the text, comes with the educational version of the SAP2000 software, as well as the author-developed SABLE software that was included with the second edition.

This is an ideal textbook for use in undergraduate structural analysis courses in engineering and engineering technology programs. It includes many illustrations graphically showing the principles discussed as well as detailed examples with clear explanations of the procedures used.
