New to This Edition
· Section 2.1 has been substantially rewritten, with new examples, to reduce repetition.
· Approximately 10% of the problems are new.
· Section 2.5 has been modified to give more prominence to the phase line as an aid to sketching solutions.
· In Section 3.9 the general case of damped vibrations is considered before the special case of undamped vibrations, reversing the order of previous editions.  The presentation is more detailed and contains new figures.
· The proof of the convolution theorem in Section 6.6 has been rewritten and new problems on integro-differential equations have been added.
· To illustrate the occurrence of systems of higher than second order a new example on coupled oscillators has been added to Section 7.6, with three accompanying figures and several related problems.
· There are new problems in Sections 2.5, 9.4, and 9.7 to illustrate the occurrence of bifurcations in one- and two-dimensional nonlinear systems.
· New problems in sections 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 deal with heat conduction in the presence of external sources, dispersive waves, and flow through an aquifer, respectively.
· Each new text is accompanied by a CD-Rom containing ODE Architect, an award-wining software that combines rich multimedia applications with powerful, yet easy to use custom mathematical situations.
· New Tools for Student Success: New eGrade Plus version of Boyce/DiPrima contains various study tools for extra student support, including self-paced practice quizzes with automatic feedback, chapter by chapter study guidelines, and online homework management.
· New text-specific Technology Manuals are available in print and online.  The manuals include problems and projects for use with Maple, Mathematica and Matlab.
