This is an advanced companion volume to the Fundamental Finite Element Analysis book by the same author. The approach, structure and use of Mathematica and MATLAB are the same between the two volumes to enable users to easily advance from one volume to the other. The word advanced in the title of the book primarily refers to the subject matter and not to its presentation. Thus the book is restricted to topics relevant to structural applications. Even within the structures area topics are covered that are more of a fundamental nature. No attempt is made to cover all possible variations of the basic ideas that have been proposed in the literature. The advanced volume includes an introductory chapter for people who may have used another fundamental FEA book, to familiarize them with the author's approach and the structure of the book.
