Environment, 5/e is intended for a one-semester course in introductory environmental science (course name varies) taught at both two- and four-year schools. A wide variety of departments offer this course – including Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Geography, or Geology – and it either satisfies a general education requirement or a major requirement. Schools often offer several introductory environmental science courses simultaneously, with each course taught by a different department.
Environment 5/e is designed to provide students with a foundation in the scientific principles involved in the environment. Integrated throughout are current and classic examples of environmental phenomena and issues in the real world. The 5th edition’s new, accessible one-column design and integrated learning system make the text the most user-friendly product for non-science majors. The result is a text that provides the basic facts, the various perspectives on the issues, and frameworks for reaching their own informed decisions.
