Hallmark Features
  • Clear explanations and writing style.  Illustrate basic concepts and fundamentals of concrete design.
  • Design of structural systems. Includes a chapter addressing design of reinforced concrete structural systems.
  • Strength Analysis of Beams. Includes a chapter for Strength Analysis of Beams According to ACI Code.
  • Software. Two software programs are available to users of the text: Sable32 and SAP2000. The text provides many challenging reinforced concrete exercises. These two software programs enable students to quickly enter the design data and obtain immediate answers, which can assist them in checking problems they work by hand. Further, through use of the software, the design parameters can be quickly and easily changed so students can explore more fully the impact of design decisions and “optimize” their design.
    • Sable32 was originally prepared by the authors for performing structural analysis. It has now been expanded to include the design of reinforced concrete members. Member forces computed from analysis are presented to the student, who then selects the appropriate design section for the member
  • SAP2000: a student version of the nationally used commercial program SAP2000. This program is introduced in Chapter 21, where the authors switch from the design of individual building components (as described in the first 20 chapters) to the design of entire building systems. This material will be particularly useful to students and faculty in their capstone classes.
