Description
This book challenges multicultural organizations to move away from merely "counting heads for the government" and begin creating effective strategies for a more positive approach to managing diversity. As corporations, labor unions, schools, and other organizations become increasingly diverse, the people charged with creating change within these organizations need proven methods for leveraging diversity as a resource. In his previous books, author Taylor Cox, Jr. outlined a model for addressing diversity issues within an organization, and in this book he is joined by co-author Paul O'Neill, an internationally admired corporate leader, to discuss the application of this model to real-life Fortune 100 companies. In particular, they focus their case studies on the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa), of which O'Neill was CEO for 12 years. The book will briefly summarize the diversity challenge and the forces that drive it, and then will focus on innovative strategies of change through leadership, research, and education.
