First published in 1991, the Diversity Awareness Profile, commonly known as DAP, is a self-assessment tool that has helped millions of individuals in organizations improve working relationships among diverse co-workers and customers by increasing the awareness of their behavior toward people and how it affects them.
Most people don't mean to discriminate, judge, or isolate others. This 40-item instrument helps training participants become aware of their actions—both obvious and subtle—and how they affect people of different cultures, genders, or ethnic backgrounds. Participants self-score their responses and identify areas in need of improvement. With the DAP Facilitator's Guide, this assessment can be used as a quick, stand-alone intervention or as part of a larger program on improving working relationships between diverse employees.
Helps organizations:
- Gauge diversity awareness and the necessity of action
- Start a diversity training program
- Follow up on existing program
- Revisit a previous training
Helps individuals:
- Become more aware of their behaviors
- Evaluate their own behaviors
- Modify behaviors to be empowering and respectful to all people
