We are committed to bringing the best educational materials to the college market. If you have writing plans, we encourage you to submit a prospectus to us. Your prospectus should be a statement, about five to ten pages long, in which you describe the purpose, scope, and features of your text--much like a preface. This will give us a good overview of your project, so we can evaluate its potential. You should also include sample chapters and a table of contents. We will send these materials to reviewers so that you can get the most informed feedback possible.

Your prospectus should contain:

A Description and a Table of Contents
Explain why you are writing the book and how it will benefit the student. Include information about the topic coverage, target course(s), important features, level of presentation, major themes or approach, prerequisites, and the scope of the illustration program. Along with your description, include a detailed table of contents. The subheadings will give us a feel for the depth of your book and its approach.

Your Thoughts About the Competition
Tell us which books you think are your chief competitors and why. What specific advantages will your book have over competing titles? Include information about differences in coverage, organization, and approach.

Sample Chapters and Art
If possible, include two or three chapters that are integral to your manuscript. Select some traditional chapters but also at least one that is particularly innovative or that covers topics difficult to teach. These chapters should present your writing style and pedagogy in the best possible light. (If you have coauthors, we would like at least one chapter from each author.) Try to choose chapters from different places within the manuscript, rather than the first few chapters. The sample chapters should be in the best physical form possible--typed double-spaced manuscript--and include sketches of line art, charts, equations, and brief descriptions of photographs.

Ancillary Suggestions
Describe the ancillary materials that you believe are necessary for your project. Include ancillaries for both student and teacher, such as an instructor's manual, lab manual, study guide, solutions manual, test questions, software, slides, or other media.

Reviewer Suggestions
If you think that certain individuals in the field might be particularly helpful in evaluating the sample materials, give us a list of their names, academic positions, and affiliations.

Vita
Include a copy of your vita, listing your degrees, positions held, and publications.
