Wiley and Science Museum’s Dana Centre in London Make Technology Come Alive
New series on technology and trends to be launched in Fall 2007
Chichester, England, August 23, 2006
John Wiley & Sons, Ltd., and the Science Museum in London announced that they have signed a multi-year agreement to publish a new series of books covering technology trends.
Written by leading technology journalists and experts in the U.K., the books will examine technology-related news stories from around the world—and explore their implications on everyday life and what may happen in the future.
The series is sub-branded with the Dana Centre, a popular extension of the Science Museum well-known for its innovative and thought-provoking adults-only events and debates on contemporary science, technology, and culture. A joint editorial steering committee from Wiley and the Science Museum will oversee titles on timely topics such as robot-assisted heart surgery and nanotech housing materials. Three titles in the series are expected to be released in October 2007, and a minimum of 15 books will be published over the course of the agreement.
Wiley is one of the leading U.K. publishers of computer titles and of such well-known technology brands as Wrox™, Sybex, Visual, For Dummies® and Symbian. This series expands Wiley's content offerings into a new genre of technology topics written for the technologically-curious reader. It is also the first series of its kind for the Science Museum.
"Scientific innovation continues to shape our world, but often its not clear how technology may impact on us personally," said Stephen Smith, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. "These books will be written for people who want to know "what's next?" and how technology will effect their lives in the future."
"Wiley and the Science Museum share a common mission to inform, educate, and generate discussion through innovative content," said Kat Nilsson, Programme Manager at the Science Museum. "With interesting visuals, accessible and thought-provoking text, we hope to make technology come alive."
