Wiley-VCH Launches the Journal of Biophotonics
Weinheim, Germany, March 11, 2008
Wiley-VCH today announced the launch of the Journal of Biophotonics, the first international scientific journal for the publication of reviews and original articles devoted to the entire field of biophotonics.
“Our mission for the Journal of Biophotonics is to connect the various scientists who try to understand basic biological processes using light as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool,” notes Editor-in-Chief, Professor Dr. Jürgen Popp. “To create a platform where the clinical practitioner learns about the latest tools he can use for diagnosis of disease—this is our intention with this new journal.”
Journal of Biophotonics is interdisciplinary in scope, covering the broad range of biophotonics research including laser physics, medical applications, spectroscopic methods, and microbiological research. In addition, the journal is the first to publish original articles from the field and will serve as an important platform for reviews.
“Wiley-VCH has a strong record in journal publication in physics, materials, chemistry, and the biosciences. Now, with the Journal of Biophotonics we have the chance to use this experience to start a unique journal. I am looking forward to seeing this journal serve these various communities in a truly interdisciplinary way,” Dr. Peter Gregory, Publishing Director, Physics and Materials.
The journal is available in print and online via Wiley InterScience, Wiley’s dynamic online publishing platform. The first issue is now online at http://www.biophotonics-journal.org. Further articles will be available at Wiley’s EarlyView™ pre-print publication service.
Complimentary online access is available to all institutions throughout 2008. Users can ask their librarians to register at http://www.interscience.wiley.com/newjournals.
