Matching Gift Program

Through the employee Matching Gift Program, Wiley matches monetary donations to eligible organizations in the fields of arts and culture, education, wildlife preservation and land conservation.

An eligible participant is a benefit eligible U.S. staff member of Wiley and its domestic subsidiaries who works 17.5 hours or more weekly and has successfully completed the new employee orientation period, a retiree, an active outside director, or the spouse of any of the above at the time of the contribution.

To qualify, an organization must be based in the United States, open to the public, recognized as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c) (3) of the Tax Code and have professional management.

All non-profit arts and cultural institutions or organizations qualify, including public television and radio.

All non-profit, collegiate and pre-collegiate, fully-accredited educational institutions and public schools qualify. This includes affiliated preschool programs, affiliated PTAs and PTOs, alumni funds, foundations or associations certified by the affiliated institutions, and organizations whose primary goals are the support of quality education (e.g., the Council for Aid to Education and the United Negro College Fund).

Wildlife preservation and land conservation organizations must be non-political in order to qualify.

Matching gifts are for the sole benefit of the institution or organization. The donor may not receive any benefit.

Gifts are matched as follows:
  • Gifts of $25 to $500 are matched 3:1
  • Gifts of $501 to $1,000 are matched 1:1
Minimum amount matched is $25. Maximum gift per donor, per institution, per calendar year is $2,000. The Company will not match the portion of a gift exceeding $1,000.

Matching Gift Disbursements are semi-annual in February & July.

ServiceMatch Charitable Grant Program

Through the ServiceMatch Program Wiley recognizes employees' volunteerism with a monetary donation to eligible organizations. Eligible organizations include all non-profit organizations or institutions except any that are political or religious in nature. However, teaching programs in religious institutions do qualify. The amount given to an organization is based on the number of hours volunteered as follows:
  • For 12-30 volunteer hours in any six-month period during the preceding calendar year, Wiley grants $250/year
  • For more than 30 volunteer hours in any six-month period during the preceding calendar year, Wiley grants $500/year
Each organization may only be designated once per employee, per calendar year to receive a Wiley grant.

An eligible participant is a benefit eligible U.S. staff member of Wiley and its domestic subsidiaries who works 17.5 hours or more and has been employed by Wiley for at least six months at the time the grant is requested.

To qualify, an organization must be based in the United States, open to the public, recognized as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c) (3) of the Tax Code and have professional management.

Service confirmation must be received by the Company from the eligible organization no later than March 15 of the year following the calendar year in which the services are performed.

There is one ServiceMatch Disbursement each year in April.

  • alone or in conjunction with any cash gift, which provide a benefit to the donor or a specified individual of more than nominal value.
  • to support political, religious, fraternal, social, alumni or athletic organizations.
  • to organizations that discriminate with respect to membership and/or the provision of services or use of facilities.
  • to organizations for which the gift or service does not directly in its entirety benefit the institution (e.g., United Way campaigns or community trusts).
  • in lieu of personal tithes, pledges or other financial commitments.
  • to separately incorporated fund-raising entities such as athletic funds, booster clubs, fraternities and sororities.
